Hi, I’m Amanda, I help puppy owners and dog owners build calmer, happier lives with their dogs using kind, practical training that actually works in the real world.
If you love your dog but life together feels harder than you expected sometimes, you’re in the right place.
I work with puppies and dogs of all ages, supporting their humans with training that fits real life, not a perfect version of it.
A quick truth I care a lot about
Your dog isn’t trained because they did something once.
Training is repetition, consistency and practice in different places, with different distractions, on different days.
A sit in your kitchen is one thing.
A sit in a field when something exciting is happening is a completely different skill.
That’s where most people get stuck, and that’s the bit I help with.
Why the relationship matters so much to me
I’ve been where many of my clients are.
I lived with two highly reactive dogs. Walks were terrifying. I planned my life around avoiding people and other dogs. I genuinely worried someone might get hurt, even though neither dog had ever bitten.
At my lowest point, I thought I might have to give them up or worse.
What changed everything was learning that their behaviour came from fear, not stubbornness or aggression. Once I understood that, the way I trained changed, and so did our relationship.
Now, the bond I have with my dog is incredible. She trusts me. I can read her body language. When something feels scary, we navigate it together.
That bond is what I want for every owner I work with.
How I train
I’m a force free, reward based trainer.
That means no prong collars, no e collars, and no pain or intimidation dressed up as training tools.
Force free training is not airy fairy and it is not just handing out treats. It is science led, thoughtful, and focused on teaching dogs the skills they actually need to cope with the world around them.
It might take a little longer, but it builds confidence, trust and solid foundations that last.
A few things I want you to know
Your dog will not be fully trained after a five or six week course, and that is completely normal. Training is ongoing, especially with puppies, adolescent & reactive dogs.
Progress matters far more than perfection.
Your dog does not need to behave perfectly in class.
Those real moments are often the most useful ones.
If I were a dog…
I’d probably be a Labrador.
Always with my people. Curious about everything. Slightly too interested in food.
It feels about right.
I train the dog in front of me
There is no one size fits all in dog training.
If a dog is uncomfortable with something, we do not force it.
If a skill does not suit your dog or your life, we adapt it.
If you are never going to use something, we do not waste time drilling it.
Training should support dogs, not override them.
And when a dog is tired, overwhelmed or clearly done for the day, we stop. We do not push “just one more”.
During this journey, I discovered Canine Hoopers, which became a game-changer for us both. Inspired, I trained to become a qualified Canine Hoopers Instructor.
I’ve also earned various professional qualifications with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT), The DoGenius, The School of Canine Science, and I’m a very proud member of The Dog Trainer School, committed to ethical, force-free training.

As a qualified Dynamic Dog Practitioner, I analyse behaviour and gait to uncover root causes of training challenges or discomfort. I continually update my skills through courses and webinars with experts like Gemma Hodson at Dynamic Dog.
I hold a Canine First Aid Certificate from Dog First Aid Sussex and am fully insured with Pet Business Insurance, ensuring peace of mind for all my clients.
At home, I’m kept busy by my Labrador x Collie and rescue Labrador x Pointer. I also volunteer for Lost Paws Cyprus, supporting rescue dogs with home checks and helping owners settle their new pets as it can be very overwhelming.
If you’re looking for kind, effective dog training in Crawley, Horley, Charlwood, Rusper, Horsham, Gatwick or the surrounding West Sussex area, I’d love to help you and your dog build confidence and a stronger bond.
